Turkey Gumbo

A few years back, I bought a Cajun Cook cookbook.
In it there was a recipe for Turkey Gumbo Soup.
Among the many ingredients listed was a turkey carcass.
Knowing that the soup was a favorite of mine, friends would periodically gift me with turkey carcasses.
They were odd gifts, but always appreciated.
One time, I was making the soup and it had a strange taste.
No matter how many spices I added it wouldn’t go away.
I kept asking myself, what is that taste?
And then I realized…
It was the turkey in the turkey soup.
Life is like that batch of turkey soup.
No matter how hard we try to make everything perfect, there always seems to be something a little bit off.
That’s the life part of life.
We can try to mask its strange taste.
But just like there’s no getting rid of the turkey in the turkey soup,
There’s no getting rid of the life part of life.
