Why Shouldn’t I? – Understanding the Thou Shall Nots in the Torah

Everyone knows there are 613 mitzvahs. These consist of 248 positive actions to be taken and 365 negative actions to refrain from. Since we are here in large part to fix the world — I would have thought that the number of positive actions would greatly outweigh those actions which are to be avoided — and yet we see that it is the opposite. Obviously, there is a great spiritual benefit and fixing that is done as a result of NOT doing certain things. But what is it? In this talk we look into some deep teachings from the Lubavitcher Rebbe and the Tikunay Zohar on the subject and trace it back to Adam and Eve, and as always, you and me.
